Senior Director, New Jersey Health Information Network

Position Summary – Under the direction of Chief Technology Officer this position will guide the team to achieve the program goals related to all the Medicaid onboarding and Medicaid onboarding expansion program.

This includes the hands-on work in provider offices it involves teaching the team how to get to how to properly document achieving HIE interoperability and document the same.

This individual will possess medical, technical knowledge and experience with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Office of National Coordinator (ONC) directives. This will enable him/her to lead the team and train to successfully guide the providers to achieving goals of various health information network related initiatives.


Person Reports To – Chief Information Officer

Supervises – NJHIN engagement coordinators


Essential Functions – Guide the Team and serve as a lead liaison to understand various health information exchange related requirements.


1.      Utilizing his/her knowledge the Sr. Director will serve as a Subject Matter Expert to help interpret/document physicians’ need in relation to interoperability and provide consultative support and training.


2.      Responsible for working with the Senior leadership to provide strategic input for the success of various interoperability initiatives. Assists in planning and operationalizing the processes related to physician education and HIE onboarding and other interoperability initiatives.



3.      Demonstrate the benefits of electronic Medical Records and other quality improvement initiatives through statewide webinars, medical conferences etc.


4.      Speak and present at several statewide medical forums and events promoting the goals of the program.


5.       Set up targets for Recruiting physician into the program.


6.      Creates and reports a management report that outlines the goals and deliverables set towards the success of the interoperability programs


7.      Guide the team and set up regular training for achieving appropriate requirements for conducting business.


8.      Communicate and share best practices and successes with the team.


Additional Functions –


1.       Perform other duties as necessary to ensure that the program fulfills the terms and conditions of various grant programs.


2.      Train team to Conduct assessments and training of providers and practice managers as needed.


3.      Train team on Workflow Analysis and Support to physician offices.


4.      Analyze workflows, procedures and constraints in regards to physician practices with the assistance of the team.


5.      Solves problems and help troubleshoot problems, issues and address questions from physicians and office staff.


6.      Oversee system testing and documentation


7.      Collect and interpret specifications required to support software applications


8.      Work with Ambulatory vendors, provide guidance for systems and project development, testing,  installation oversight, and training analysis.


Prerequisite Qualifications –


1.      Demonstrated leadership role held in the Healthcare IT field


2.      Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science or related field


3.      Minimum 5 years comprehensive experience in project management and project control strategies


4.      Demonstrated supervisory experience


5.      Demonstrated business systems and project management experience


6.      Experience in customer relations and working with doctors and their staff required


7.      Experience working with multi-stakeholder groups including local, state and federal agencies, community organizations, foundations, industry leaders and for-profit corporations


8.      Minimum of 4 years supporting Clinical and Ambulatory end-users


9.      Minimum of 4 years supporting outpatient systems

Education/Degree Required - Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science or related field


1.     Years of Experience Required – Minimum 10 years of healthcare IT experience

2.     Knowledge/Skills Required – Health information exchange related knowledge, ability to engage with healthcare providers


Preferred Qualifications –

1.      Master’s degree in health IT and/or a Master’s degree

2.      Evidence of certification from accredited organizations in related field

3.      2+ years of Ambulatory and Physician Practice workflow analysis experience is a plus

4.      Workflow certification and/or experience as a plus
