Project Manager

Job Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for application systems/project planning, estimating, tracking,

reporting and management. This includes working closely with New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) the

business areas, clients and vendors in defining systems/project priorities, scope, approach, resource

requirements, timing deliverables and funding.  Position will also be responsible for all application

business systems and services. Position will provide direction to project teams. This position will also be

responsible to manage Technology and consulting vendor/partner relationship, service delivery and

overall performance.

Primary Duties

 Accomplishes results by communicating expectations and enforcing policies and procedures

following NJII Project Managemennet Methodology

 Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting

strategic plans for implementing information technologies.

 Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with NJII business units and clients.

 Verifies application results by conducting system audits.

 Accomplishes financial objectives by meeting requirements and budget; scheduling

 expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action.

 Maintains quality service by enforcing organization standards.

 Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 Defines application problem by conferring with team lead and Management; evaluating

 procedures and processes.

 Develops solution by preparing and evaluating alternative workflow solutions.

 Provides reference by writing documentation.

 Assists in developing and evaluating systems specifications.

 Assists in the development and implementation of major project timelines.

 May be required to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.



 May serve as a liaison between NJII and regulatory and governmental agencies,

 regional providers, vendors and telecommunications organizations.

 Performs other duties as requested by Head of Operations and Senior Executive Director .



 Bachelor’s degree required. Technology and network systems certifications preferred.

 Project Management Institute PMP, CAPM or PBA certification

 Additional job related experience/and/or education may substitute for the required education on

a year-for- year basis.



 Three years job related work in computing and/or healthcare environment.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential:


 Working knowledge of Project Management Book of Knowledge

 Working knowledge of software development life cycle activities

 Working knowledge of systems interface

 Working knowledge of office practices and methods

 Business case analysis

 Business principles and business and Healthcare-specific terminology

 Work closely with IT in order to develop and standardize best practices

 Work closely with senior executives to define requirements that will help drive performance

 Working knowledge of systems interface


 Teamwork

 Software Architecture

 Data security assurance concepts and procedures

 Documentation systems and knowledge database

 Creation of forms and reports

Highly Preferred:

 Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

 Basic business principles and business and healthcare-specific terminology

 Prototyping procedures

 Software life cycle activities

 Knowledgeable of requirements gathering



 Leadership

 Operate on independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies

 and activities.

 Establish and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers, faculty, staff, and

 the public.
