Biostatistics Intern-NJII- (Part-Time)

Position Summary

Successful candidate will work on projects requiring knowledge of biostatistics as it applies to clinical trials, epidemiology, and health economics and outcomes research. Successful candidate will primarily work on patient data to identify trends, disease clusters, and/or predictive modeling for clinical outcomes.

The role will include assessment of the statistical validity of the proposed method, derivation of additional interested statistical inference of the proposed method and work with data scientists and other experts to proposed method of filling the gaps related to missing data.

Person Reports To – Director BD & OPS – BioPharma, Special Projects NJII

Biostatistics Intern will be assigned to support various program or project leads where he/she would support the project leader in execution of the program.

Essential Functions –

  1. Coordinate and provide subject matter expertise in biostatistics to the assigned projects.
  2. Provide input and advise to remove barriers for successful completion of the overall project.
  3. Learn predictive modelling methods to identify patients at risk for negative clinical outcomes for the defined complication.


 Additional Functions –

  1. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with project owners, support functions, vendors, and other project stakeholders


Prerequisite Qualifications –

Education/Degree Required

  • Candidate must have completed at least two semesters of graduate studies in pursuit to a graduate degree in biostatistics with a strong GPA. Must have done course-work in epidemiology, randomized clinical trials design, and analysis of longitudinal data.


Knowledge/Skills Required (No action items, or tasks should be in here)

  • Tech savvy- good with apps, Microsoft Office, and easily learns new ones.
  • Service-oriented! With ability to demonstrate what sets you apart from others who consider themselves service-oriented.
  • An excellent writer- articulate and to the point. Ability to prepare clear reports and studies that include findings and recommendations

Knowledge of data structure in the EHR systems as used in medical practices
